Carjacking

As I was coming back from the Ivory-billed Woodpecker presentation, there was apparently an attempted carjacking with shots fired in front of my building. I didn't see it, but it must have happened just as I arrived back home. One of the suspects may have fled into the parking garage across the street, and about 40 police officers, armed with machine guns and dogs, are currently searching the garage.

I also saw a Brown Thrasher downtown for the second day in a row.

Love the post. Guns and Mayham everywhere, and oh yeah by the way, saw a cool bird downtown.

This is why I could never be a good criminal. Right in the middle of my heist/hijacking/hi speed chase, I'd be like, "Wait a sec - that's not a House Sparrow, it's a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. Sweet!"

Birding is NOT a crime!!!! said...

The neighborhood around my place is actually quite safe; I have lived in the city for almost ten years, walk around often at 3:00 in the morning (looking for building strikes, of course), and have never had a problem. I see some odd things, but usually nothing dangerous. Something like this does cause me to be a bit more careful, though.

Oh yeah, that Brown Thrasher is still hanging around near my office. Stakeout for the Chicago Urban CBC!!!!
